MY POSITIONS ON BALLOT MEASURES

Vote YES on Amendment D!
Expanding Medicaid in South Dakota will benefit thousands of hardworking South Dakotans who currently make too much to qualify for assistance but cannot afford their own healthcare coverage. Expanding Medicaid would:

  • Benefit 42,500 hardworking South Dakotans who need access to care.

  • Help our small businesses and ensure their employees have more money to pay bills, buy groceries, and support other small businesses.

  • Ensure that rural hospitals and clinics stay open, protecting thousands of healthcare jobs in our rural communities.

  • Increase access to care for working moms and near retirees, farmers and ranchers who can’t afford healthcare for themselves or their families, and small business employees, especially in rural South Dakota.

  • Pay for healthcare in OUR community instead of sending $350 million of our tax dollars to California, New York, and 36 other states to pay for healthcare.

Vote YES on IM 27!

Initiated Measure 27 would legalize personal possession of cannabis by adults 21 and older in South Dakota. If approved by voters, the law will take effect on July 1, 2023. The people of South Dakota voted to decriminalize recreational marijuana two years ago. It would have become law, except Gov. Noem sued the state to stop it. We simply spend too many state and county dollars on investigating, arresting, prosecuting and incarcerating people for possession and use of marijuana. Let’s instead legalize it, regulate it, and tax it. IM 27 will initiate this process and respect the will of the people.
